Former Panthers LB signs with Steelers on Tuesday

· Yahoo Sports

A former Carolina Panthers defender has found his way back to some familiar territory.

According to ESPN senior NFL insider Adam Schefter, the Pittsburgh Steelers have signed linebacker Jacoby Windmon. The 24-year-old made two previous stops with the Panthers, one in 2024 and the other in 2025.

The Marrero, La. native and Michigan State University product cracked into the NFL as an undrafted free agent with the Steelers in 2024. He'd be signed off Pittsburgh's practice squad by the Panthers in October of that same year.

Windmon ended up making a pair of starts as a rookie for Carolina. He'd go on total 22 combined tackles, a sack and a half and two passes defensed over nine games.

After being waived by Carolina in the summer of 2025, Windmon returned to the Steelers' practice squad in the middle of that season. He'd then return to the Panthers a month later and stayed on a reserve/future deal before being waived once again in early May.

His last bit of action came for the Columbus Avaitors of the United Football League, where he tallied six tackles in three games.
