Duchess of Sussex Meghan Markle is Reportedly Getting Back Into Acting

After a lengthy break from performing — ever since her 2018 marriage to the U.K.'s Prince Harry — Markle has reportedly now been "offered a role in an upcoming project based in the U.K.," according to News.com.au. No further information about the role or production has been made public.

The timing of this news is interesting, as it comes just days after it was widely reported that both Harry and Meghan would soon move back to the U.K. for an extended period after six years living in California. During that time, Markle made appearances in various documentary and lifestyle series, though refrained from taking on fresh acting roles.

Markle began her career with guest spots in TV series such as Knight Rider, Fringe, 90210, and CSI: Miami, before her breakthough role as Rachel Zane in legal drama Suits, a character she played between 2011 to 2018. It was during this time that she met Prince Harry, and the two subsequently married.

Markle's time as a working member of the Royal Family saw her focus on official duties with Harry rather than her acting roles. But Markle has so far failed to return to her former profession even after the couple's high-profile decision to step back from royal life and live in the U.S.

There has been no suggestion that Harry and Meghan's return to the U.K. will include a return to royal duties, and the couple will live in a private residence. The move follows a rare visit in July to see Harry's father, King Charles III. A BBC News report into this latest development includes mention of a royal source that stated they understood "the King was unaware of the move before last weekend, but he welcomes the opportunity to see more of the Sussex family in a private and personal capacity."
