নারায়ণগঞ্জ শহরের গলাচিপা রেললাইন এলাকায় মাদকবিরোধী অভিযানে গিয়ে মারধরের শিকার হয়েছেন রেলওয়ে পুলিশের দুই সদস্য। রোববার বিকেলে এ ঘটনায় জড়িত থাকার অভিযোগে দুজনকে আটক করেছে পুলিশ।

আহত দুজন হলেন রেলওয়ে নারায়ণগঞ্জ পুলিশ ফাঁড়ির উপপরিদর্শক (এসআই) মিজানুর রহমান ও কনস্টেবল আরিফ হোসেন। পুলিশের ওপর হামলার ঘটনায় আটক হওয়া দুই ব্যক্তির নাম জানা যায়নি।

পুলিশের দাবি, মাদকবিরোধী অভিযানের সময় আটক দুই ব্যক্তিকে ছাড়িয়ে নিতে তাঁদের সহযোগীরা হামলা চালান। তবে স্থানীয় কয়েকজনের দাবি, নিরপরাধ দুই ব্যক্তিকে আটক করাকে কেন্দ্র করে উত্তেজিত জনতা পুলিশের ওপর চড়াও হয়।

প্রত্যক্ষদর্শীদের ভাষ্য, রোববার বিকেলে শহরের গলাচিপা রেললাইন এলাকায় সিএনজিচালিত অটোরিকশায় করে দুই ব্যক্তিকে নিয়ে যাচ্ছিলেন রেলওয়ে পুলিশের দুই সদস্য। এ সময় ওই দুই ব্যক্তি পুলিশের সঙ্গে ধস্তাধস্তি শুরু করেন এবং সাহায্যের জন্য চিৎকার করেন। চিৎকারে আশপাশের লোকজন জড়ো হলে একদল লোক আটক দুজনকে অটোরিকশা থেকে নামিয়ে পাশের একটি ব্যবসাপ্রতিষ্ঠানে নিয়ে যায়। সেখানে পুলিশের সঙ্গে বাগ্‌বিতণ্ডার একপর্যায়ে উত্তেজিত লোকজন পুলিশ সদস্যদের ‘ভুয়া পুলিশ’ বলে মারধর শুরু করে। একপর্যায়ে আহত অবস্থায় সেখান থেকে দৌড়ে পালিয়ে যান রেলওয়ে পুলিশ ফাঁড়ির এসআই মিজানুর রহমান ও কনস্টেবল আরিফ হোসেন।

অন্যদিকে আটক হওয়া হাফিজুর ও রমজানের দাবি, তাঁরা শহরের কিল্লারপুল এলাকায় ‘প্রাইম’ নামের একটি ডাইং কারখানায় কাজ করেন। বিনা কারণে তাঁদের গ্রেপ্তার করে হাতকড়া পরিয়ে সিএনজিতে তোলা হয়। এ সময় তাঁদের কাছে থাকা টাকা ও মুঠোফোনও নিয়ে নেওয়া হয়। পরে চিৎকার করলে স্থানীয় লোকজন এসে তাঁদের সিএনজি থেকে নামিয়ে দেন।

ঘটনার সত্যতা স্বীকার করে রেলওয়ে ঢাকা থানার ভারপ্রাপ্ত কর্মকর্তা জয়নাল আবেদীন প্রথম আলোকে বলেন, এসআই মিজান মাদকবিরোধী একটি অভিযানে গিয়ে দুজনকে গাঁজাসহ আটক করেন। আটক ব্যক্তির লোকজন ‘মব’ সৃষ্টি করে পুলিশের ওপর হামলা চালিয়ে ওই দুজনকে ছিনিয়ে নিয়ে গেছেন। পরে এ ঘটনায় জড়িত থাকার অভিযোগে দুজনকে আটক করেছে নারায়ণগঞ্জ সদর থানা–পুলিশ। বিষয়টি খতিয়ে দেখে প্রয়োজনীয় ব্যবস্থা নেওয়া হবে।

তবে এসআই মিজানের মুঠোফোন নম্বরে একাধিকবার যোগাযোগের চেষ্টা করা হলেও সংযোগ বন্ধ পাওয়া যায়। নারায়ণগঞ্জ সদর মডেল থানার ওসি মোহাম্মদ আবদুল হালিম প্রথম আলোকে বলেন, মাদকবিরোধী অভিযানে গিয়ে রেলওয়ে পুলিশের সদস্যরা দুজনকে আটক করেন। পরে তাঁদের সহযোগীরা এসে পুলিশ সদস্যদের ওপর হামলা চালিয়ে আটক ব্যক্তিদের ছাড়িয়ে নেন। এ ঘটনায় জড়িত থাকার অভিযোগে দুজনকে আটক করা হয়েছে। পরে তাঁদের নাম-পরিচয় জানানো হবে।

The brother of Ayman Muhammad Ghazali, the accused Michigan synagogue attacker, was a Hezbollah terrorist commander who was killed in an Israeli strike days before the attack, Israeli intelligence revealed Sunday.

"Hezbollah commander Ibrahim Muhammad Ghazali was responsible for managing weapons operations within a specialized branch of the Badr Unit," the Israeli Defense Forces posted Sunday morning on X. "The unit is responsible for launching hundreds of rockets toward Israeli civilians throughout the war."

"His brother, Ayman Muhammad Ghazali, carried out the terror attack in Michigan this past Thursday. Ibrahim was eliminated in an IAF strike on a Hezbollah military structure last week."

Ayman Ghazali, 41, carried out his attack a week after Israel bombed his family's town in Lebanon on March 5, killing two of his brothers and a niece and nephew, according to news reports.

In Michigan, the Lebanon-born Ghazali rammed a pickup truck laden with fireworks and jugs of gasoline into Temple Israel in the Detroit suburb of West Bloomfield, sparking a fire. Ghazali fatally shot himself in the head during a gunfight with a security guard.

The IDF posted a video to X on Saturday showing "Hezbollah terrorists carrying rockets into a weapon storage facility in southern Lebanon."

While the Badr Unit operates in southern Lebanon, according to the Center for Monitoring Security Threats (CMST), the IDF did not make a direct connection between the video posted, the added focus on Hezbollah retaliation against Israel and the terrorist attack in Michigan.
