EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) — The University of Evansville men’s basketball team was held to just 23 points in both halves of their 84-46 loss to the University of Illinois-Chicago.

In about 12 minutes of play in the first half the Purple Aces were down by 10. UE cut that lead down to seven following back-to-back threes by Alex Hemenway and Trent Hundley. But then the Flames extended the lead to 15 before the half going on an 8-0 run to end the first half.

In the second half, the deficit quickly blossomed to 24 points as UIC opened the half with three three-pointers in a row. From there Evansville was never able to cut the lead less than 22 points. In the end, the Purple Aces lost by 38 points, the worst loss at home in Ford Center history.

Hundley was the sole UE player to score in double-digits against the Flames with 12 points off the bench to go along with three assists. Leif Moeller and Joshua Hughes both finished the game with nine points each.

Evansville will look to rebound Saturday, February 21st, at Murray State at 3 p.m. The game is expected to stream on ESPN Plus.
