Russell will be an unrestricted free agent when the new league year begins on March 11.

Cleveland Cavaliers coach Kenny Atkinson on why they fear Celtics' Derrick White

· Yahoo Sports

Derrick White might be one of the most underrated players in the NBA when it comes to being honored with All-Star or All-NBA bids, but the Boston Celtics point guard is held in high esteem by his peers around the league. We can include among them the head coach of the Cleveland Cavaliers, Kenny Atkinson, who took some time after his team's recent loss to the Celtics to explain why White is such a good player.

Visit chickenroadslot.lat for more information.

As to why he has a point of view on the Colorado native that doesn't always gibe with popular opinions of White's value in the NBA, Atkinson said "probably people aren't measuring is his defensive impact" in their assessments of what he brings to the game for Boston.

"I know that's hard to measure, and it's hard for your average person (to see it)," added the Cleveland coach. "Maybe mainstream looks at just the offensive (production), but he's an elite on both ends."

"So that equals, to me, for coaches in this league, for players in the league, that's how we look at him as a great player in that bucket," said Atkinson. "Again, analytically, I think it's probably proven in various places that he is that player."

"And that's how we treat him – he really disrupts you defensively. He's an elite rim protector, and people don't really like a guy, probably the best guard, rim protector in the league. So just take all those things and put it in there, and with the shooting, you've got a great player."
