Texas A&M unveils patriotic Red, White & Blue uniform before Week 2

· Yahoo Sports

No. 9 Texas A&M took care of business in Week 1 after defeating Missouri State 50-0 behind an elite defensive effort and starting quarterback Marcel Reed's impressive day in the pocket. Starting 1-0 on the year is important, but the rest of the schedule, outside of hosting Citadel in early October, only gets tougher from here on out.

In Week 2, coach Mike Elko's talented squad will host Arizona State, which is coming off a 70-7 win over Morgan State behind transfer QB Cutter Boley, who threw for a career-high 387 yards and six touchdowns against a below-average defense. Still, these numbers are impressive, and Elko and his staff have factored them into their preparation for the matchup.

While it's been known for months, Texas A&M will commemorate September 11, as the game will take place one day after the 25th anniversary of the tragic event. This week, Kyle Field's patriotic makeover was revealed: both end zones will be red and blue, and the midfield A&M emblem will feature an American flag design.

The official uniform for Saturday's game was revealed Thursday afternoon: the Aggies will wear a white helmet with a red, White, and Blue helmet sticker, a maroon jersey, and white pants for the all-important matchup. In the video provided by Texas A&M's media team, junior running back Rueben Owen's is the featured player.

Quote Aggies Wire contributor Dylan Flippo: "Texas A&M's Red, White and Blue game began with a fundraiser after the 2001 attacks. A group of Aggie students came together to create "Standing for America" T-shirts, which were sold to raise money for those impacted by the 9/11 attacks."

On the field, stopping Arizona State's running game, forcing Cutter Boley to make accurate throws from the pocket, and speeding up his process are key to getting the job done and leaving Kyle Field 2-0.
