The Denver Broncos made two roster moves on Tuesday, which were corresponding moves after signing two players who tried out at the team's recent rookie minicamp.
The Broncos awarded free-agent contracts to wide receiver Michael Woods II and cornerback Paul Manning. That forced the team to cut two players to make room for them, and that ended up being former Dallas Cowboys running back Deuce Vaughn and cornerback William Wright.
The Broncos signed Wright as an undrafted free agent out of Tennessee following the 2026 NFL Draft, but the signing of Manning, a cornerback who played at Division II Henderson State, ended up making him expendable. The Broncos have two other undrafted cornerbacks on the 90-man roster, Brent Austin from California and Ahmari Harvey out of Georgia Tech.
Broncos release cornerback William Wright
Wright spent his entire college career at Tennessee, playing in 45 games for the school. He had two interceptions and returned one 35 yards for a touchdown last season.
However, he is a bit undersized at 6-foot and 190 pounds and would have had a tough time making the 53-man roster considering how deep Denver is in the secondary. Manning was highly impressive during the team's 3-day minicamp and basically stole Wright's spot on the roster.
Wright will now hope another team has a spot on their 90-man roster so he can participate in training camp this summer.
